Fishing Restaurant in Namba, Osaka: Catch a Sea Bream at Tsurikichi and Eat It (Booked on KKday)

Want to catch your own dinner in the middle of Osaka, then eat it half an hour later?

Jumbo Tsuribune Tsurikichi Namba (ジャンボ釣船 つり吉 難波店, “Jumbo Fishing Boat”) is a restaurant built around a big fish tank. It sits in the Sennichimae area, a short walk from Namba’s stations. The Classic set on KKday includes a 30-minute sea bream fishing challenge, and your bream comes to the table as half sashimi and half sushi.

Let’s set expectations first. This is a restaurant meal with a fishing game, not a day on the water. KKday shows 3.3 stars from four reviews, and the complaints are about the food, the drinks bill and a wet floor. We cover each one below so none of them surprises you.

We built this guide from the KKday listing, the restaurant’s menu pages and Japanese transit sites. We flag anything we couldn’t confirm.

Is This Right for You?

✅ Great if you…

  • are traveling with kids. KKday allows children aged 1 to 11 if they order at least one meal
  • want fishing that happens indoors, in a tank inside the restaurant
  • are staying near Namba and want dinner and an activity in one stop
  • want to catch your food in 30 minutes, not spend half a day on a boat

⚠️ Think twice if you…

  • want real sea or river fishing. This is a restaurant tank, so see the guides at the end for the real thing
  • can’t accept that every fish you catch must be bought and can’t be released. One KKday reviewer found the fishing hard to watch
  • choose restaurants for the cooking. One reviewer called the food ordinary, and the restaurant picks the dishes
  • want drinks included. They aren’t in the set

Which Set Should You Book?

KKday sells one package with two options. Only one of them lists fishing.

Prices below are what KKday showed in October 2026 and change with the date and availability.

OptionWhat you getFishing
Classic (from about US$41)Appetizer, 5-piece kushikatsu platter, sea bream (half sashimi, half sushi), beef sirloin steak, seafood hot pot, finishing udon, dessertYes: 30 minutes
All-You-Can-Eat Course (about US$65)Fugu (pufferfish) dishes: skin, sashimi, karaage, hot pot, shabu-shabu, dried fish, rice porridge, plus appetizers and dessertNot listed

We’d book the Classic if fishing is why you’re booking. It’s the only option whose listing mentions fishing. KKday doesn’t say what is refillable in the All-You-Can-Eat Course, so ask KKday before you choose it.

KKday says the set contents are for reference only and the restaurant uses seasonal ingredients. Your dishes may differ from the list.

How the Fishing Works

Rod, bait and the tank

The restaurant’s menu page says the rod and bait are free. It also says you can’t release what you catch. You must buy it.

In the Classic set, the sea bream is listed as half sashimi and half sushi. So the bream you catch looks like part of the set price. We couldn’t confirm that, so ask KKday if you want to be sure.

The restaurant has 132 seats, and 64 are “boat seats.” Its page says the big boat seats let you catch sea bream and horse mackerel. KKday doesn’t let you choose a seat, so don’t count on a boat seat. Staff show you to your table.

Alex

Is this real fishing?

Seto Angler

It’s fishing with a rod, bait and a fish on the line, but in a tank inside a restaurant. KKday calls it a 30-minute Sea Bream Fishing Challenge. If you want the sea, see the guides at the bottom.

If you want to catch more

Extra fishing is paid separately from the KKday set. The restaurant’s menu lists a price for each fish: sea bream (tai, 鯛), flounder (hirame, 平目) and horse mackerel (aji, 鯵). The menu says prices change with the day’s stock, so we don’t print numbers here.

Cooking is priced separately too. The menu says sashimi or salt-grilled is free. Other styles, such as deep-fried, tempura or simmered, cost extra, and the menu’s range is free to ¥880 (tax included), depending on the fish and the dish.

If you want to catch more, we’d suggest asking the price of the fish before you cast. Every fish you hook must be bought, and the menu says prices change with the stock.

What we couldn’t confirm

  • What happens if you catch nothing in the Classic set
  • Whether each guest gets one sea bream
  • Whether the 30 minutes is per person or per table
  • How long the whole meal lasts. KKday says meal time is limited

These are the questions to send KKday before you book.

Eating Your Catch

Your Classic set arrives in courses, and the sea bream comes as half sashimi, half sushi. The rest is a 5-piece kushikatsu (breaded skewers) platter, a beef sirloin steak, a seafood hot pot with udon to finish, and dessert. The restaurant chooses the dishes, and they change with the season.

Come for the fishing, not for a gourmet dinner. One reviewer called the food ordinary, and another said the restaurant picked everything apart from the fish. Others liked eating the catch right away.

If you order extra horse mackerel as sashimi, remember the parasite. Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare warns that Anisakis larvae live in seafood such as mackerel, horse mackerel, sardines and squid. Eating them raw can cause severe stomach pain, usually within hours to a few days. Freezing at −20°C for at least 24 hours, or cooking at 70°C or higher (or 60°C for 1 minute), kills them. Vinegar, salt, soy sauce and wasabi do not.

Drinks, Table Charge and Extra Costs

Drinks aren’t listed in the set. The restaurant’s menu says it charges a table charge (otoshi, a small starter) of ¥385, tax included. We couldn’t confirm whether the KKday set already covers it.

One reviewer disagreed with the restaurant about the price and time limit of all-you-can-drink. The restaurant’s banquet menu lists an all-you-can-drink add-on at +¥1,100 for 120 minutes. That’s for its own banquet courses, and we can’t say it applies to your set.

Alex

Are drinks included?

Seto Angler

Not according to KKday. We’d suggest asking the price and the time limit before ordering any drink plan, because one reviewer disagreed with the restaurant on both.

How to pay

This table shows who you pay, and how, in each situation.

We couldn’t confirm that the restaurant takes cash, so we’d recommend carrying a Visa or Mastercard.

Kids, Allergies and the Floor

Alex

Can my 8-year-old come?

Seto Angler

Yes. KKday says children aged 1 to 11 are allowed but must order at least one meal. Children 12 and over pay the adult price. Give the child’s age in the ordering remarks when you book.

The Japanese version of the kids’ rule reads differently from the English one, so check the details with KKday if you have toddlers. We couldn’t confirm whether a child gets a rod.

  • Allergies: the restaurant asks guests with food allergies to tell the staff. KKday doesn’t mention allergies, so tell the staff when you sit down
  • Wet floor: one reviewer said the floor gets wet and slippery. Wear shoes with grip
  • Two floors: the restaurant’s floor map shows the entrance, the boat seats and tables on the ground floor, and more tables, a small snag-fishing pool (hikkake-tsuri) and the restrooms on the floor below (B1). The map shows stairs between the two. We couldn’t confirm an elevator, so ask KKday if you have a stroller or wheelchair
  • Smoking: the whole restaurant is non-smoking

How to Get There

From Namba stations

The restaurant is in the Sennichimae area, about 230 m north of Namba Grand Kagetsu (NGK), or 3 minutes on foot. It’s not on the Dōguyasuji kitchenware street.

Walking times are from the station pins and don’t include the walk inside the station.

Plan on 5–10 minutes from the subway and private-railway stations, and about 15 from JR Namba. Exits for Sennichimae 2-chome are numbers 1, 11, 16, 18, 19 and 20 at Metro Namba, and 3, 4 and 5 at Nipponbashi. The Osaka Metro doesn’t say which is nearest.

⚠️ Elevator work — The elevator on the Sennichi Line side of Osaka Metro Namba Station is scheduled to stop from October 2 to November 6, 2026. A stair lift runs during the work. With a stroller or big suitcase, plan another route

From Kansai Airport

Three ways reach Namba from Kansai Airport. The trains arrive at Nankai Namba, and the bus stops at OCAT, inside the JR Namba building.

The Airport Express leaves Kansai Airport from 5:45 to 23:55. Rapi:t runs about every 30 minutes: weekdays 6:53–23:00, weekends and holidays 7:06–22:55. Every Rapi:t seat is reserved, and the fare is ¥700 above the Airport Express. OCAT is inside the JR Namba building. The Haruka train doesn’t go to Namba; it needs a change at Tennoji.

If you’re tired after a long flight, we’d pick Rapi:t. Every seat is reserved, so you sit down for the whole ride. Klook sells a Nankai Rapi:t ticket.

Luggage

Osaka Metro Namba Station has coin lockers on the concourse near exits 19 and 20. Kintetsu Osaka Namba Station has 118 large and 82 small lockers, ¥400 to ¥1,500.

We couldn’t confirm the restaurant has luggage space, so we’d suggest storing big suitcases near the station first. Radical Storage lists a Namba Station location.

QCan kids fish?
