Want to hook your own fish before lunch and have it cooked a 30-second walk from the dock? This half-day boat trip leaves from Naha’s fishing port and fishes near the uninhabited Kerama islands closest to Naha. It takes about 5 hours, and the operator says beginners and children can join.

We built this guide from the Klook listing, the operator’s own website and map routing, and we say where we couldn’t confirm a detail.

If you fly out the same day, we’d pick the morning trip. It gets you back around noon, and the operator asks you to leave extra time if you have a flight after the tour.

What You’ll Catch

The operator says gurukun is the main catch. Gurukun is Okinawa’s name for a group of fusilier fish.

Mostly gurukun

The operator’s staff comment says gurukun (fusilier) is the main catch.

A few small extras

You may also catch parrotfish (irabuchaa), damselfish, grouper (miibai) and goatfish (ojisan).

How you fish

A fisher guides the boat to the spots. Klook reviewers describe filling a basket with krill to draw fish to your hook. The tackle and bait are included.

Nothing is guaranteed. Some Klook reviewers caught nothing.

Alex

Can I catch something on my first try?

Seto Angler

The operator calls the trip suitable for beginners and children, and the main catch is gurukun. Reviewers’ results differ: one had five fish cooked, while others caught none. Go for the time on the water, and count every fish as a bonus.

Price and What’s Included

The Klook price is per person, and Klook lists a separate child ticket for ages 6–11. Check the booking page for the child price.

Prices below are what Klook showed in October 2026 and change with the date and availability.

The cooler box costs extra. Klook lists ¥1,500, ¥2,000 or ¥2,500 per box. Klook reviewers report paying ¥1,300 (in October 2024) and ¥1,500 (in May 2026) at the port. If you plan to eat your fish at the shop next door, we’d skip the cooler. You only need one to carry fish away.

We’d book on Klook: the booking page is in English, and cancellation is free until 48 hours before.

Eating Your Catch at the Harbor

The operator says a restaurant called Umi no Megumi (海の恵み, Umi no Megumi) cooks the fish you catch. It’s about a 30-second walk from the dock. You can’t reserve a table. You walk in and order yourself.

  • Closed: every Tuesday and the third Sunday of the month, and possibly other days
  • Phone: 070-1063-0464 (+81 70-1063-0464 from abroad)
  • Cost: Klook reviewers report ¥1,800 per person (in October 2024) and ¥2,000 for five fish (in July 2026)
  • Wait: one Klook reviewer waited about an hour

Pick a day other than Tuesday or the third Sunday if you want to eat your catch. Call first if you’re unsure about the day.

Alex

Does the restaurant have English menus or staff?

Seto Angler

We couldn’t confirm it. Because you order yourself, point at your fish and use a translation app. A Klook reviewer says gestures worked with the boat staff.

A note on raw fish

Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare warns that Anisakis larvae live in seafood such as mackerel, horse mackerel, sardines and squid. Eating them raw can cause severe stomach pain, usually within hours to a few days. Freezing at −20°C for at least 24 hours, or cooking at 70°C or higher (or 60°C for 1 minute), kills them. Vinegar, salt, soy sauce and wasabi do not. We’d suggest ordering your catch cooked.

Getting to Naha Fishing Port

The meeting point is Naha Fishing Port (那覇沿岸漁港, Naha Engan Gyoko), 3-chome-1-17 Minatomachi, Naha (那覇市港町3丁目1-17). In Google Maps, search 26.24376, 127.67966.

Naha Airport to the port

about 10 min by car, 6.3 km

Omoromachi Station (Yui Rail) to the port

about 6 min by car (3 km), or about 36 min on foot (2.7 km)

Nearest bus stop, Futo Iriguchi (ふ頭入口)

about 640 m, or about 9 min on foot, from the port

Source: OpenStreetMap routing, calculated in October 2026 without traffic. We couldn’t confirm a bus from the airport that needs no transfer, or one that reaches the port by 7:30.

For the 7:30 trip, we’d recommend a taxi or a rental car from central Naha. The port lot is free for parking, and Asoview lists space for 20 cars.

No Pickup, No Luggage Storage

⚠️ No hotel pickup — Klook’s title says “Pick up & Drop off,” but the package it sells and the operator both say there’s no pickup

  • No luggage storage — The listing says to leave big bags at your hotel or in your car. If you land in the morning for the 12:30 trip, drop your bags first
  • Japanese only — The staff speak Japanese. Use a translation app, and see our eSIM guide below if you need data

Where to Stay in Naha

Sleep in Naha the night before the 7:30 trip. There’s no pickup, and the port is about 10 minutes by car from the airport.

Alex

Can I go straight from the airport?

Seto Angler

Yes, for the afternoon trip: the port is about 10 minutes from the airport by car. The boat has no luggage storage, so leave your bags at your hotel first.

What to Bring

🎒 Your packing list

  • ☐ A hat, drinking water and a towel
  • ☐ Light, quick-drying clothes and shoes that are easy to walk in
  • ☐ Seasickness medicine, taken before you board. The operator recommends it
  • ☐ Cash. We couldn’t confirm whether the cooler seller or the restaurant takes cards
  • ☐ Nothing you can’t carry in a small bag. The boat has no luggage storage

On the boat:

🎒 Your packing list

  • ☐ Wear your life jacket. Parents make sure their children wear theirs
  • ☐ Stay seated while the boat is moving
  • ☐ Drink no alcohol. You can be refused boarding
  • ☐ Hold on to your belongings, and take your trash with you
  • ☐ Pay for any gear you break or lose

Klook also says the boat has a toilet and a device that reduces rolling. The operator doesn’t mention either.

Do You Need a Fishing License?

No. We found no license system for rod fishing in the sea in official sources. Japan’s Fisheries Agency allows foreign visitors to rod-fish from fishing charters run by Japanese fishers, and it asks everyone to follow local rules. Follow the captain’s instructions.
