Want to hook a sea bass or a horse mackerel in Tokyo, one train stop from Haneda Airport?
This private 2-hour charter on Tokyo Bay gives you and your group the whole boat. Rods, lures, bait and life jackets are included. The captain helps you pick lures, untangle lines and bait hooks. Shinagawa is about 30 minutes away by train, so you can fit it into a Tokyo stay too.
We built this guide from the KKday listing, PLAYFUL FISHING’s own website, Google Maps and Tokyo Metropolitan Government rules. We flag anything we couldn’t confirm.

Is This Trip Right for You?
✅ Great if you…
- land at or leave from Haneda and have a few spare hours. The boat is one station from the airport
- want a boat for just your group. The price is per boat, so more people means a lower share each
- want to fish Tokyo Bay for sea bass and horse mackerel without bringing gear
- like night fishing. Departures run until 22:30
⚠️ Think twice if you…
- are traveling alone and want a cheap seat. One to three people pay the same price
- need a toilet on board. Neither KKday nor the operator mentions one
- need a detailed explanation in English. KKday says the crew speaks Japanese and simple English
When Can You Go?
📅 Open all year, with some weather days off
Open Part of the month Closed
Trips run all year. Octopus trips start June 1, says the operator. February has the coldest water (about 9–11℃) and August the warmest (about 27–29℃). Trips are called off in strong wind, not in rain. The Japan Meteorological Agency’s data shows typhoons approach the Kanto region from July to October, most often in September. The operator posts temporary closures every year, and in 2025 trips started on January 4. Start and end months of each fish vary by year.
Source: KKday listing, the operator’s website, Japan Meteorological Agency, MLIT Kanto Regional Development Bureau (Kawasaki artificial island water temperature, 2022–2024 monthly averages), checked November 2026.
What You Can Catch, Season by Season
KKday’s list is long: sea bass, horse mackerel, black sea bream, scorpionfish, rockfish, Japanese whiting, octopus, flathead and more. KKday says the captain picks the target from the previous day’s catches. You can tell the captain what you want to catch in your 2 hours.
The table below shows what the operator’s posts and trip names mention for each season. It is not a guarantee, and the operator’s summer posts are few.
| Season | Fish | How |
|---|---|---|
| January–March | Sea bass, horse mackerel, scorpionfish, rockfish, red seabream, Japanese Spanish mackerel | Jigging (drop and reel), light game, bait, tai-rubber (タイラバ) |
| April–May | Horse mackerel, black sea bream, flathead, sea bass, Japanese sillago, red seabream | Horse mackerel fishing, lure fishing for black sea bream (チニング), tai-rubber |
| June–August | Octopus (from June 1, says the operator) | Method not reported |
| September–October | Japanese Spanish mackerel, young amberjack (イナダ・ワラサ), hairtail, sea bass | Lures such as blades, big baits and minnows |
| November | Sea bass, horse mackerel, Japanese Spanish mackerel, hairtail | Night top-water lures, horse mackerel mixed bag |

KKday’s list also includes “GT” and “blue runners”. In Tokyo Bay these are likely small trevally, not the giant fish the name GT suggests, but no source says so outright. Treat them as small fish.
Night trips
Night sea bass is a top-water game. The operator also lists night scorpionfish, rockfish (mebaru) and anago (穴子), a conger eel, for night trips. It posts no extra rules for night trips.

Back in port
Total time is 2 to 2.5 hours from departure
Pick the departure slot closest to your plan when you book. Then message the operator through KKday with the time you really want. KKday says it can run any time of day.
The boat
The boat in the operator’s photos is a small open boat with a center console. The operator runs two boats. Neither KKday nor the operator lists the length, the capacity, a roof or a toilet.
Gear, life jackets and bringing your own rod
The price covers rods, lures, bait, towels, one cooler bag and life jackets. The operator also lends a fish grip, a landing net and pliers. Since February 2018, everyone outside the cabin on a small boat in Japan must wear a life jacket, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
KKday doesn’t say whether you can bring your own rod. If you want to, ask through KKday before you book.
Language on board
KKday says the crew speaks Japanese and simple English and uses translation apps. We’d download a translation app and have mobile data ready at the pier. A Saily eSIM is an easy way to do that.
| English | Japanese | How to say it |
|---|---|---|
| Where is the meeting place? | 集合場所はどこですか? | Shūgō basho wa doko desu ka? |
| I want to catch ___. | 〇〇を釣りたいです | … o tsuritai desu |
What It Costs
The price is per boat, not per person. It rises by ¥7,000 for each person from the fourth. Prices below are what KKday showed in November 2026 and change with the date and availability.
| Group size | Price per boat |
|---|---|
| 1 to 3 people | ¥40,000 |
| 4 people | ¥47,000 |
| 5 people | ¥54,000 |
| 6 people | ¥61,000 |
| 7 people | ¥68,000 |
Source: KKday listing, checked November 2026.
Split evenly, a group of 2 pays ¥20,000 each. A group of 4 pays ¥11,750 each. A group of 7 pays about ¥9,700 each. If you’re two travelers, we’d bring a third person along. The price stays at ¥40,000 for 1, 2 or 3 people, so the third person adds nothing.
Not included are meals and cooking at a restaurant. The operator’s website says ice and bags for taking fish home are sold on site. It says the operator doesn’t take credit cards, so carry cash for those small extras.
Do You Need a Fishing License?

Do I need a license to fish Tokyo Bay?

We found no rule that requires one for fishing with a rod from a boat in Tokyo Bay. Read our guide to fishing licenses in Japan for the full picture.
Tokyo’s fishing rules let recreational anglers use a rod and line. Tokyo’s sea fishing rights cover only the Izu and Ogasawara islands, and the nine points around Haneda that we checked fall outside them. Nobody except professional fishers can take abalone or sea cucumbers anywhere in Japan. Our fishing license guide explains the rest.
Getting to the Boat
Where to meet
KKday gives the meeting point as PLAYFUL FISHING, 11-1 Haneda-asahi-cho, Ota-ku, Tokyo. It is about a 10-minute walk from Keikyu Anamori-inari Station and about 9 minutes from Tenkubashi Station (Keikyu or Tokyo Monorail), says KKday.
These Google Maps links show the walk from each station:
By car, the Shuto Expressway Haneda IC is about 5 minutes away. There is no parking at the pier, only nearby coin parking. After you book, message the operator through KKday to confirm the meeting point and your departure time.
From Haneda Airport
The fares below are from the Keikyu and Tokyo Monorail fare tables. Together with the walk, the trip takes about 15–30 minutes.
| From | Keikyu to Tenkubashi | Keikyu to Anamori-inari |
|---|---|---|
| Terminal 3 | ¥150 | ¥200 |
| Terminals 1 and 2 | ¥180 | ¥230 |
Tokyo Monorail to Tenkubashi costs ¥180 from Terminal 3, ¥230 from Terminal 1 and ¥320 from Terminal 2. We’d pick Tenkubashi for your stop. From Terminal 3 it costs ¥50 less than Anamori-inari, and KKday lists the walk as 9 minutes instead of 10.
A taxi takes about 12 minutes from Terminal 3 (3.6 km) and about 13 minutes from Terminal 1 (5.2 km), according to Google Maps. We couldn’t confirm the fare.
From central Tokyo and Yokohama
Times below are daytime trains to the meeting point, based on Google Maps.
| From | Time |
|---|---|
| Shinagawa | about 30 minutes |
| Asakusa | about 1 hour, no change |
| Tokyo Tower area | about 55 minutes |
| Minatomirai (Yokohama) | about 50 minutes |
| Kawasaki Station | about 30 minutes |
The fare is ¥280 from Shinagawa and ¥560 from Asakusa.
Source: Google Maps, checked November 2026.
⚠️ No trains after the 22:30 trip — That trip ends around 0:30–1:00. The last trains to central Tokyo and Yokohama leave the area around 23:30–0:00, so plan on a taxi or a nearby hotel
- The 7:30 trip works by train — You meet at 7:00. On weekdays and Sundays the first trains from Shinagawa, Tokyo, Shinjuku, Asakusa and Yokohama get you there before then
- The 19:30 trip works by train — It ends around 21:30–22:00, in time for trains back to the city
Suitcases and lockers
Keikyu and Tokyo Monorail let you bring up to two bags onto the train. Each bag must be 250 cm or less (length plus width plus height) and under 30 kg. Keikyu doesn’t accept anything longer than 2 m.
Tenkubashi’s monorail station has lockers outside the gates on the first floor, at ¥500–¥900. The Keikyu maps for Tenkubashi and Anamori-inari show no lockers. Haneda Airport has coin lockers, and Terminal 3 has a staffed baggage storage open 24 hours. We couldn’t confirm its fee. If you’d rather send your bags ahead, Klook sells an airport luggage delivery service called Airporter.
Tackle shops on the way
If you want your own lures, three shops are on the way. Kamata Station on the Keikyu Airport Line is where many trains change.
- Tackleberry Kamata — a used tackle shop, 6 minutes on foot from Keikyu Kamata Station. See the route to Tackleberry
- Joshuya Kamata — 8–9 minutes on foot from the same station. See the route to Joshuya
- Casting Shinagawa Seaside — 4–5 minutes on foot from Shinagawa Seaside Station. See the route to Casting
There is no tackle shop near the meeting point. Check each shop’s opening hours before you go. If you want to buy lures, we’d pick Kamata. It is a transfer station on the airport line, so it needs no detour.
Transport passes and airport transfers below are set by Klook, and prices change by date.
Fitting It Around a Flight
The meeting time is 30 minutes before departure, and each trip lasts 2 to 2.5 hours. The airport is 15–30 minutes away. Work backward from your own flight and keep a buffer.
Flying out in the afternoon
Book the 7:30 trip. You meet at 7:00 and are back around 9:30–10:00, then 15–30 minutes from the airport.
Landing before noon
Book the 16:30 trip. You meet at 16:00, leaving hours for the airport, the hotel and lockers.
Late-night fan
Book the 22:30 trip only with a hotel or taxi plan. There are no trains home after it.
If your flight leaves in the afternoon, we’d pick the 7:30 trip for your departure day. It is back in port by 10:00 at the latest, and you could drop your bags at the Terminal 3 baggage storage first.
KKday says confirmation can take up to 3 days, so book before you plan the rest of your day. The listing doesn’t say how far ahead dates open.
Where to Stay
For the 7:30 trip or the 22:30 trip, sleep near the pier. According to Klook’s listings, these two are close:
- Keikyu EX Inn Haneda — near Tenkubashi Station, an 11-minute walk to the meeting point
- Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo Haneda — next to Tenkubashi Station
Villa Fontaine Grand Haneda Airport connects to Terminal 3, but it is a 31-minute walk from the meeting point.
If you take the 22:30 trip, we’d book one of the first two. You can walk home instead of waiting for a taxi.
Eating Your Catch
The operator introduces restaurants that cook your catch and helps you book them. KKday names two:
- Sakaba Torasuzu (酒場 寅鈴), Asakusa — Gurunavi says it cooks fish you bring, by reservation, same-day if possible. It is about 1 hour from the meeting point
- Takadaya Kawasaki Ekimae (高田屋 川崎駅前店) — Gurunavi lists a “bring your catch” course of 6 dishes for ¥3,960. It is 1 minute on foot from JR Kawasaki Station East Exit, about 30 minutes from the meeting point
Check the Gurunavi page for Sakaba Torasuzu and the Gurunavi page for Takadaya. Meals and cooking are not covered by the KKday price. We couldn’t confirm what a restaurant charges for cooking a fish you bring.
If you plan to eat it raw, Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare warns that horse mackerel can carry Anisakis parasites. Freezing at −20℃ for 24 hours or cooking kills them; vinegar, salt, soy sauce and wasabi do not.
A hotel may not be able to store or cook your catch, so ask before you book. The cooler bag is included. Dinner, sorted: take the fish straight to a restaurant after the trip, or ask the operator what to do with it.
Booking, Cancellation and Weather
Booking
Book on KKday. The listing has one plan, a 120-minute private charter. After booking, message the operator on KKday with your preferred time. KKday says confirmation can take up to 3 days.
Cancellation
KKday’s cancellation policy (as of November 2026):
Weather

What happens if it’s windy?

The operator decides by wind and waves, not rain. It tells you by 21:00 the night before whether the trip runs. KKday doesn’t say how it refunds a trip canceled for weather, so ask KKday before you book.
⚠️ Check your messages the night before — If you and the operator can’t reach each other, the operator says the trip is canceled
- Weather cancellations — The operator’s website says it doesn’t charge a cancellation fee when weather stops a trip. KKday’s listing doesn’t spell out the refund
What to Wear and Bring
- Clothes you don’t mind getting wet or dirty
- A waterproof or water-repellent jacket. KKday says it is colder at sea, and sudden rain is possible
- One extra layer. The operator says it is colder on the water than on land
- Boots (long boots are best) or sneakers that don’t slip. The operator doesn’t allow spiked shoes or high heels
- Cash for ice and a bag for your fish. Ask the operator whether you need ice
- A bag for your own trash. We found no trash rules, so take it home
- Food and drinks are allowed on board, says the operator
Around Haneda
If you have time, two places are close to the meeting point:
- Anamori Inari Shrine (穴守稲荷神社) — about a 9-minute walk from the meeting point. See the route to the shrine
- Haneda Innovation City — connected directly to Tenkubashi Station. See the route to Haneda Innovation City
Two more ideas for the same day:
- Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa — an aquarium by Shinagawa Station, about 30 minutes from the meeting point by train. Klook sells entry tickets. Check the day’s hours on the booking page before you go
- A Tokyo Bay yakatabune dinner cruise — a traditional houseboat with dinner, sold on Klook, for an evening in Tokyo
The tours below are set by Klook, and prices change by date.
